Né en 1999, Ellipsis a toujours fait différemment des autres ! Un premier E.P., Build The Nation, encensé par Kerrang en 2000 a rapidement motivé le groupe à réaliser un premier album en 2003, Comastory, qui reste à ce jour une référence dans le prog’ metal fusion atmosphérique et expérimental ! From Beyond Thematics enfoncera le clou en 2004 avec son heavy doom progressif très riche en ambiances. En 2006, Imperial Tzadik a démontré la véracité d’Ellipsis d’aller plus loin dans les ambiances. Ce dernier toujours produit par Terje Rejsnes (Sirenia, Carpathian Forest, Nightmare…) aura été encensé une fois de plus par la critique : un album aux influences Nevermore et Faith No More… Deux ans plus tard, Ellipsis est revenu avec un album sans concessions, The Grace Decapitated. Plus extrême et en même temps plus rock prog’, cet album a marqué l’arrêt du groupe durant dix années…
Ellipsis revient aujourd’hui plus fort que jamais et ne dépareille pas de la nouvelle scène moderne : il sera cependant toujours difficile de donner une étiquette à Ellipsis même si ces derniers ont souvent pris un malin plaisir à définir leur style comme du Psycho Metal avec son ambiance générale sombre et torturée. Ils reviennent plus inventifs que jamais avec le concept Sadistikal Mentaculus qui raconte l’histoire de deux sœurs siamoises. Pas mal de nouveaux membres ont pris part au projet, notamment John Macaluso, batteur de renommée internationale ayant joué avec Yngwie Malmsteen, Symphony X, Ark, TNT, Jennifer Batten… Fla Eklectika ayant décidé de quitter le groupe pour partir vers d’autres horizons, c’est Frederic Caillat Miousse qui la remplace. Stephane Mathurin est aussi venu se joindre au combo avec ses guitares originales et sophistiquées…
Born in 1999, Ellipsis has always done differently from others! A first E.P., Built The Nation was praised by Kerrang in 2000 pushing the band to record their debut album, Comastory, in 2003, which remains to this day a reference in atmospheric and experimental prog metal fusion! From Beyond Thematics was released in 2004 bringing heavy doom prog rich atmospheres. In 2006, Imperial Tzadik has demonstrated the veracity of Ellipsis to go further in atmospheres. The latter still produced by Terje Rejsnes (Sirenia, Carpathian Forest, Nightmare…) was praised once again by the critics: an album with Nevermore and Faith No More influences… Two years later, the band has returned with an album without concessions, The Grace Decapitated. More extreme and at the same time more rock progressive, this opus was the latest before the band decide to stop its career during ten years… Ellipsis is back today stronger than ever and does not differ from the new modern scene: it will however always be difficult to give a label to Ellipsis even if the latter have often taken pleasure in defining their style as Psycho Metal with its general dark and tortured atmospheres. They come back more inventive than ever with a concept-album, Sadistikal Mentaculus telling the story of Siamese sisters. A lot of new members took part in the project, in particular John Macaluso, world-famous drummer having played with such names as Yngwie Malmsteen, Symphony X, Ark, TNT, Jennifer Batten … Fla Eklectika having decided to leave the band, it is Frederic Caillat Miousse who replaces her. Stéphane Mathurin also came to join the combo with his original and sophisticated guitars skills…
